The Healing of Becoming
Queer hybridity, cyborg flesh, and reimagining of belong in Asian future
꧁⊹☾ ☽⊹꧂The Healing of Becoming: Queer Hybridity, Cyborg Flesh, and the Reimagining of Asian Queer Futures rethinks the image of the cyborg. It aims to imagine a world where broader, more inclusive possibilities can take shape.
It is no longer a flawless, high-tech body, but a hand-stitched, constantly mending, repairing, and self-healing being.
Drawing from cyberfeminism, queer theory, and lived experiences of Asian queer community in the Netherlands, this work explores how technology, identity, and belonging can be reassembled, regenerated, and reconnected within the fragments of everyday life.
At the heart of this piece is the Cyborg Dress, lies a low-tech installation, made from partly reclaimed materials and simple circuits. Feathers, wires, and worn fabrics are slowly woven together in imperfect gestures that embody vulnerability, repair, and resilience, woven together with personal and communal stories. The interactive elements are powered by a visible Arduino system, emphasizing transparency and tactility over seamless illusion. It was never meant to be complete; it carries contradictions and chaos, moving fluidly across multiple spectrums.
The performance begins with a live reading of a poem in Mandarin and concludes with its English counterpart— a self-dialogue of a mythical hybrid creature with no record in history.
This being formed from fragmented identities and memories, reflects on soul, freedom, existence, and the ongoing process of becoming.
In the end, it continues an instinctive act of self-healing: through weaving, different Asian queer stories in the Netherlands are intertwined, continuing a dialogue with the self that embodies openness, regeneration, and the beauty of being unfinished.
This work focus on a belief in imperfection and multiplicity as forms of resistance against binary worlds. This cyborg flesh does not seek stability, but finds balance within imbalance. It falters, wears down, and is sewn back together. This is a living state, a quiet refusal of the so-called “perfect body.”
It proposes a kind of technology grounded in accessibility, repairability, and touch — a queer, low-tech future built through acts of sharing, mending, and care.
Here, _becoming_ is not an endpoint but a continuous practice of repair and coexistence. It's a space for those who live in-between, who never quite fit in, who are still figuring things out, and who rebuild ways of living with tenderness, persistence, and vulnerability.

《蛻變的療癒:酷兒混融、賽博肉身與亞洲酷兒未來的再想像》重新思考「賽博格」的意象。它不再是高科技、完美無瑕的身體,而是一個被手工縫補、持續修復並且自我療癒的存在。作品從賽博女性主義、酷兒理論與亞洲酷兒的生活經驗出發,探索科技、身份與歸屬如何在破碎的日常中被重新組裝、再生與連結。
作品的核心是一件由低科技材料製作而成的賽博格服裝/裝置,由部分回收材料與簡易電路構成。羽毛、回收電線與舊布料以緩慢且不完美的勢態編織在一起。這些象徵著修復與持續存在的韌性。作品中的互動由可見的 Arduino 系統驅動,強調技術的透明與觸感,而非無縫的幻象。它從來不是完滿的,它充滿矛盾與混亂,並在多元的光譜中流動。

酷兒混融、賽博肉身與亞洲酷兒未來的再想像
